Cooking for Food.

Image
Law was on weekend duty. BIL called to volunteer to send Janelle to her ballet class, that save me sometime to do some cleaning up and cooking. Infact, not much of cleaning up which I kept telling myself I wanna do for very long time. I need to tidy up my kitchen which is still a messy till now, practically a dumping ground of all my cooking utensils and baking ware. I brot a pizza crust mix weeks ago from Cold storage but didnt get to do it. I was thinking it shld be a good time to make for the kids since Janelle and Julian love pizza. However, I couldnt get it ready by lunch, so will save it for dinner. I came upon the recipe for "Dan Yan", which is the egg pancake like noodles from Fu chou recipe. I saw it when I flipping thru a recipe book at Expo popular sale. I didnt get the recipe book (good control this time) but only copy dun the ingredients and read thru the methods. Suddenly I have the craving of the soup with Chinese celery and Dan Yan. It shld be a quick meal for...

Positive Mind

I met up with my poly classmate for a chat. We talked abt current economy, our work and our family. She is a good listener, she relates what she learns and read to me, asking me to think positive to achieve what I desire and things I will do. Be it on family, work and hobbits. She says that dealing with people is an Art. 人于人相处是一种哲学。Even between parents, spouses, kids, colleagues etc. I told her I didnt not seem to get an equal treatment when I treat others nice. I felt that I have been wasting my time to be nice, I end up becaming mean and selfish cos it didnt pay well to be a good person. She told me "You are soring good seed around, just have to continue so you will able to see good crop later". Isnt she positive? She encouraged me to have more positive thinking and try to be with people who are positive and inspirational. As a mother to two kids, she wants me to be able to lower myself to the kids level to find out why my kids react differently. I do agree with her that I ...

Outing to a performance

The childcare centre handed the kids an excusion sheet for this quarter outing. They are going to a performance excusion to watch "Bear and Chicken go Camping". My MIL said may be Julian was too young for excusion. I told her I will let him go this time as they are not going to anywhere in open. It is only a show and I believe the teachers could manage them. I have brot the kids to watch some shows last years, testing Julian response. He may not really grab the storyline but he enjoyed it very much. Therefore, I dun see the reason that he shld not go. Infact, I can save a day leave.. haha..

New tooth

I just realised Janelle new tooth is sprouting at the same place where her milk tooth has dropped weeks ago. She is only 5 yo. I find it kind of fast. The new tooth not very in line with the rest of the teeth. I hope she doesn't inherit my crocked teeth

Dark Pearl Cake

Suddenly I have a strong urge to do some baking so after getting Law consent to allow me to continue "working" in the kitchen at 10pm. I set to get my chocolate bar which I ran out. We dropped by Sheng Siong and I grabbed the cheapest Chocolate bar as i thot cooking chocolate bar shld be the same. Unfortunately I was wrong, the chocolate gave out a pugnent vegetable oil smell when it got melted. I added in quite an amount of Van houten cocoa powder hoping it will cover the smell. I made a big cake with 5 big eggs, using a 9" square tin. However I missed the timing and the top got a little burn but the texture of the cake is still very spongy. I sliced half of the cake to bring to the office for tasting. (Since my collicks has being bring us their home-make goodies but I have given none, I think I better make something to thanks them). My collicks are very nice to give good feedback on the cake. Now I can safely make more of the cake and give it to my sisters and mum. I b...

We didnt manage to get the room on Sat as it was fully booked so we opt for Sunday and Monday that mean we are coming back on Tuesday. Let pray for good weather so the kids can play at the beach. MIL told us to go over her place for Steamboat as a celebration dinner for FIL. She doesnt want to eat out as she predict Sunday will be a queuing for food day everywhere and it is still not a joke to eat out with Julian. I decided to make the roast pork belly again and on top of that a Japanese Dark Peal cake for FIL since we are not getting him any cake. Comments of the cake - great! I make some amendment to the receipe and the outcome is still good.

Food Strike

Julian is on food strike recently. He is not interested in milk or food. Whenever we asked if he wanted his milk, he will shook his head and said "NO". He also lose appetite for his meal, not sure if it was due to teething (last molar) or cos his cough and running nose. He has being extremely grumpy and whiny for little things that doesnt go with his way. May be is the late Terrible 2 that striking my little boy.

Cousin Hwee Wedding

I was unofficially appointed as the dinner photographer for Law's cousin Hwee wedding. I was kind of "freak" out a little. This was really a big task for someone important day in their life. I am not very good in my photographer skill. I still have problem taking good pictures under daylight, dun even think of indoor in a low light restuarant. I knew I need an external flash, knowing my collick CK have got one recently, I'm actually banging my luck if he would want to borrow me his new flash. He not only willingly and also encouraging me to take up this "Challenge" for there wasnt much chances to take someone wedding dinner. But I was still not confidence, I chatted with Gina and told her I need Teng Leng helped to back up each other. The day photo at Hwee house was very badly taking. I got all my shutter speed and apeture mixed up. Luckily, I am only taking photo for the kids. Still praying very hard that everything will turned out well at night. I tried ta...

Are we expecting Tooth Fairy?

What is a Tooth Fairy? The Tooth Fairy is a mythical character depicted as a fairy that gives a child money in exchange for a baby tooth that has fallen out. Children typically place the tooth under their pillow at night while they sleep. The fairy is said to take the tooth from under the pillow and replace it with money. Europe Version In early Europe , it was a tradition to bury baby teeth that fell out. [2] Some believe that the Tooth Fairy evolved from the tooth mouse depicted in an 18th century French language fairy tale . In "La Bonne Petite Souris," a mouse changes into a fairy to help a good queen defeat an evil king by hiding under his pillow to torture him and knocking out all his teeth. Asian Version In some Asian countries, such as India , Korea and Vietnam , when a child loses a tooth the usual custom is that he or she should throw it onto the roof if it came from the lower jaw, or into the space beneath the floor if it came from the upper jaw. While doing...
