Going to ChongQing

Chung Cheng High is Chinese school by default, although all the schools in Singapore do not classified themselves as one language schools but some of the schools have very deep root of their past heritage. Like Janelle school, they only have Chinese and everyone is taking HCL by default. As so, the school have exchange program with some school in China. I noticed it on her 1st year of secondary after parents briefing, I actually encouraged her to fight for the opportunity to go for it. She wasnt interested that time.  Surprisingly this year she told me she wanted to give it a try although she dont think she stand much chance if she will be selected. Fortunately, she signed up and she got into the 1st round. Half of her classmates signed up and only 2 for them got into the 1st round then the final round. We are definitely happy she got it but dun know how the selection criteria were. She wasnt the top scorer for her chinese in class, she wasnt the most outspoken as well....

Pitu crazy ex-face

Image
Recently I was so into this new China drama call 延禧攻略. Love the show and love the character in the show. There is this APP call Pitu, just input your face and tata... they will transferred you into 古典美女。Only only on the drama characters they have more. Does it look like me? I was joking with my friends that I think I can develop this as my wedding photo.

Bread and more bread.

Image
This weekend I was very crazy about making bread. I took two recipes that the facebook was all crazy about. I tested the Roti Sisir recipes, Law and the kids love it very much. Janelle and Law said they wanted more for monday breakfast, evern Skyler love munching on the bread. This is the killer toast recipes. I seldom have bread that turn out so well before. I taught Janelle how to roll the dough into bun shape with a technique and she mastered it very well after a few tries. Did watch the fire well and the bun is a bit burnt. So sad! I made sugar and cheese rolls and bring them to office the next day to give it to my colleagues. I love making but I need people to help me eat them.

Crayfish at Ikea

Image
Ikea Tampines was crazily pack with people and we all have to stand by a table to wait for one. I wanted to go for the crayfish buffet but we didnt make it. Since they are selling during dinner, i decided to buy a plate to try. This cost $5 a plate which I think is quite affordable. To my disappointment, it doesnt taste really that fantastic. the flesh is only Skyler's pinkie size. The head is bigger than the flesh. Hahah never mind. It was a good experience to try one, at least we did. Luckily we didnt sign up for the crayfish buffet.

Roti Sisir

Image
I took the Roti Sisir recipe that was posted by a member in Facebook and try making it. The recipe call for cream which I happened to have one. I overproofed my bread because we went out ikea for dinner luckily the bread still taste good. I'm still not very good in handling my oven temperature so end up the top is a bit burn but not bitter. Some of us just love munch on the burn skin because it is too aromatic. Asking my little tester on my bread and he gave me a thumb up! Happy!

Volunteering a day

We are back to Willing Heart Soup Kitchen to help out in the kitchen to prepare meal for the needy elderly. This is my 3rd time coming to the kitchen with my organisation. Each time we are task with different work, depends on what they need us to help. 1st time I came to peels potatoes, 2nd time I came to cut mushroom, this time I was told to clean the vegetable and cut the turnips for the kitchen. I actually enjoyed working here very much because it is about COOKING. LOL I wanted to come back to be permanent helpers but because of the kids I thought I can wait when they are older and able to take care of themselves. When I thought it was about time, I was pregnant with Skyler and weekends will be busy with the little boy. This plan have to shelf further but shouldnt be too far. I hope the kitchen will be there for long to provide food for the needy elderly and I will have a chance to help out again.

All the little helpers

Image
There was a sand mixer that travelling infront of our car decided to drop some mud on top of our car. Daddy doesnt want the mud to dry and stick to the car so he mobilised the kids to help wipe up the mud. Skyler said he wanted to help, picked up a piece of wet tissue and started cleaning. Since there were enough helpers, mummy will stand aside to monitor and take photos. *click click*

Public National Day Performance

Image
The team trained hard for the performance at Mountbatten CC. I was so proud of the team and of course Janelle. We were nearly late, grab Skyler and we laterally run to the venue. At 1st Skyler couldnt spot jie jie until later. He was so happy to see jie jie on the stage playing her instruments well. The school mates were so supportive, I saw Janelle classmates came to support the school band. Of course, they played very well too. I was told that the stage was too small for all of them to sit down and play so the trombone team was told to stand up and play. See that was why Skyler can spot jie jie.. glad that she continue to did well for the instrument she played from Primary school. She is so much happier after switching from Netball to Band.

Boh Gas day.

Image
While cooking dinner I saw the fire diminished suddenly. OMG! Boh gas liao. Worse thing is they dun deliver gas after 8pm. Oops... I asked Law dun bother to dig the induction stove which was at the bottom of the stack. Just dig out our super loyal Tiger steamboat pot so I can cook the Mee Hoon Kway for dinner.
