Books and more Books...

I have being spending quite alot recently and I just couldnt stop getting more books especially when I walked into a book store. I just added 5 more books to my collection. Not all are cookery book but I would miss this area. I got another book on bread making and it come with CD. Cool.. 2 religion books on Bodhisttva Manjusri (文殊師利菩薩) and Bodhisttva Kṣitigarbha (地藏王菩薩), a book on my Canon EOS1000D and a book to teach Janelle Maths. There is a strange attraction to the religion books that couldnt stop me and the only reason stopping me to collect the whole series is the price. I didnt notice 4 out of 5 are in Chinese..

Photography Classes

After getting the DSLR, i think I need some professional lesson to brush up my phototaking skill. Then I saw this Willy Foo and checked out this facebook profile and got to find out that he is actually conducting classes. Why not? So I signed up myself for the Basic photography courses, which compromised of 4 lessons, 3 indoors lecturers and 1 outdoor hands on shots. It cost $240 but I thot to give it a try.....
I pulled the kids to bed ard 9:30pm, but Julian wanted me to accoy him to sleep. I told him he had Jie jie to accoy him. He fussed a little, Janelle came over and hugged and patted him a little hopping to calm him down for me to leave the room. It didnt work too well, he still insisted that I stayed with him. I told him I will be beside him for a while and persuded Janelle to sleep. She told me she was tired and going to sleep soon. I guessed she skipped her afternoon nap again and she dozed off after a few mins. Janelle still did not nap well in childcare, if lucky she will catch the nap bug and sleep for an hr or two else she will lay ard to rest. That was what she told me when we asked her. Julian took a while and managed to doze off, he was a fast sleeper when time comes. Give him some quiet time and he will join the dreamland soon. Sleep tight kids... Mummy love all of you.

Fever Flash

Janelle vomited all over her mattress in the mid of the night, she called for me immediately. I could see that she threw all her dinner out all over the mattress. We led her to the washroom and while she try to control and continue to throw out more on her way. Next moment, her temperature shot up to 38.8 degree. Her body show all sign when she was going to the sick zone. I fed her panadol and continued to monitor till 1:30am, cos if the fever still linger ard 38 then I will have to feed her iburofen. Luckily the fever was gone but I was too tired to go to work. I told Law that I will take a day leave to look after Janelle and he will send Julian to school. This was the 1st time he attending school without Janelle and heard that he managed it well. Sign of relief that the fever didnt come back the next day. This fever is weird, it only come a while and go. Anyway, she was supposed to attend her Math revision paper that day so I have to contact her teacher to give her another day.

Revision? Test?

Janelle is having Revision for the next 3 days starting today. A notice was given to me a month earlier. I guessed the school wanted the parents to do some revision with the kids. Hmmm.. i admitted that I didnt do my work but the CC had prepared the kids well. They went thru a mocked test scenerio and Janelle came back with her "testpaper". She forgotten to do one sum and that pull her down to a GOOD then a Well Done. We told her to be more careful next time but praised her for doing just as well. She has no problem reading the instruction that is a plus point for her. Once she understand how it shld be done, she usually get it all write. It is such a breeze to her and I hope she keep up with such good learning attitude and ability. This morning, I asked her if she rbr she has a "Revision" to go thru today. She said she has gone thru once where the table will be separated, no discussion among the classmate and everyone has to do the paper on their own. I was surpris...

Happy Hair Cut

Julian didnt fuss during his hair cut today. He sit on Law lap quietly and let the barber trim his hair. This is the best experience we have seen so far and also the best hair cut he has for ages. He is so proud of himself. When I asked him abt it, he could still tell me he didnt cry and looked so handsome with the new style.

East Coast Beach and Cycling evening.

Image
I have urged Law to bring us to the beach cos it was a long promise for the kids. Janelle is bugging me for sandplay all the time. Morning was too hot so we told her evening time, even Law told her the samething. We visited Law's brother place and then head down to Tampines 1 to visit the new shopping Mall. Tampines was indeed crowded, not only the new shopping mall but Century Sq as well. Law and I were a bit of overwhelmed by the crowd and decided to settle our lunch fast and moved out. We managed to lure the kids back to the car and head back home, making them to nap do the next event. But I shld have guessed right, I shld never really let Law has a rest when it come to outdoor event cos he has the tendency to backout. He had a kind of attituded which i really hate when he wanted to do away with the plan and give me the crap excuses of having headache. I knew he had this problem I dun give a damn abt his excuses. I asked Janelle to ask his daddy if he was going to keep his promi...
I have watched my "Twilight", it wasnt as good as the book. I should have expected that in a way. The movie cant be putting everything from the book to the screen. How much can the movie tell in a 120min show but I really like the series and it was still good to see the visual effect. I am in the 3rd book now and still very dreamy abt the story. I dun understand why pple will category it as teenage novel, so what if it was one? Does it sound childish to read something a teenage is reading? It is definitely an easier books to read comparing to Stephen King series. Stime I just dun understand why pple will make such comments.

Shopping Spree

Image
I started my shopping spree before official GSS started. What did I buy? I got some Iora tops at Suntec during their promotion. I seriously need some decent working tops as I really ran out of good tops and I have being wearing the same few tops over and over again. It was time to get some new one. Then during the Isetan sale I got myself a Thermal pot and a Itti & Otto shoes which is so damn expansive but still cheaper than Clark. My spree went further to book and DVD range. After going thru Twilight and New Moon, I decided that I could wait no longer for the price to drop and went to popular to grab the last two series that I didnt order last round - Eclipse - Breaking dawn I am so involved in the story that i went searching for the DVD and surprisingly there are many Twilight Fan. When many DVD shops and the attendant told me it was out of stock but I manage to get it at TS DVD shop. Cant wait to watch it tonight and convert it into iTouch format so I can watch it in my iTouch. ...

Thermal Pot Cooking

Image
As MIL was not ard in Singapore, there wasnt anyone to cook for the kids. There my Thermal Pot came in handy. I decided to precook some dishes and let the Thermal Pot continue it role while I was working and by the time we were home, dinner will be ready. 1st day I cooked wild mushroom soup with apple and pork rib and cooked the rice using the top plate. The rice turn out really well. 2nd day I cooked ABC soup and prepared a stew chicken with potatoes. The kids love the dishes. Janelle commented that the chicken with potatoes was delicious. The chicken was tender after 8 hours of stewing. The thermal pot is a handy tool as I dun have to watch over the fire and save me gas and electricity. It is using the heat to cook the food but I realised the soup is not as nice tasting as using slow cooker but not possible for me to on the slow cooker for 8 hrs too. So it is still a wonderful invention.

Sunday Dinner

Image
I dun feel like cook anything big as Law will be working late so I took out the green tea udon that I bot at the Isetan Sale and prepared Udon soup for the kids. I made up of the Dashi satchet that I got from the Isetan. The Dashi is really nice and I dun need to add anymore seasoning to it. Of course, the Udon and the Dashi satchets didnt come cheap. A pack of green tea Udon cost me $11 and the pack of Dashi (pack of 18) cost me $22 but I guessed it worth the $$.
PIL and BIL has left spore last Friday for FuZhou, the flight was delayed and they only managed to reach Fuzhou at 2am. We are handling the kids and routines well so far. I have an errand to run on Sat and I got Xian to come over to help me look after Julian while Law sent Janelle for her Chinese make up lesson. Julian came down with mild fever but the fever managed to subside after a dosage of panadol. Kind of weird cos Janelle also has a 2 days fever last week. Since Julian was okay, I dun have to trouble my mum to send Janelle for her lesson. Infact, we were early for the lesson and Teacher Liu wanted us to come 15 min early to watch the review from the children. While waiting for Janelle, I brot Julian ard Katong area for a walk. We came across this Baker's Well baker shop mentioned by Faith. She told me to try the muffin which contained less sugar. I asked Julian if he wanted any muffins and got 3 for a cheaper price. He loved the banana muffin and couldnt finish one on his ow...

My New Kitchen Gadgets

Image
For the past 2 weeks I got myself two Kitchen gadgets to my kitchen collection. I was aiming at the Bluesky waffle maker from Carrefore which cost less than $20. It was out of stock the 1st time it was launched and the 2nd time when it has a good discount of only $14 but I was too late to grab one. It was out of stock again and was told that it will come one week later. Just before we set off to Msia, i decided to drop by Carrefore once again to try my luck which happened to their stock up day. I was lucky, I managed to buy it and I was so excited abt it but I can only start making waffles for the kids after the trip. Then on the Isetan Mid year sale, I saw this Endo Thermal pot. I saw alot of advantages owning one. As I only need to prepare the soup by heating up the metal pot to boiling point and store the soup in the Thermal pot to let it cooked for min 2 hrs. There is no gas and electricity involved, which was indeed a quite appealing appliance to me. I decided to get it and make s...

Ashley's baby Alexis

I was so surprised to rx a letter from France when I opened my letterbox. 1st things I noticed was Ashley's handwriting. Dun ask me why but I could recognised some of my friends handwriting without opening the envelope to find out who was it. Ashley sent me a card of Baby Alexis, very nice of her to send it over. I showed Law and Janelle was asking who baby was it. She doesnt has a very deep impression of Ashley but she said Alexis was really cute. I thot of sending something over but after checking the postage, i guessed I might as well consolidate my purchase and hand it over to Ashley if she is coming back. The postage alone can get baby Alexis a few more items.

彩虹里的乐章——小豆豆音乐会

I chanced upon this programme when I searching thru Sistic one day. I thot it shldnt be a bad idea to bring the kids to expose to more musical instruments, furthermore they are Chinese traditional instruments which they dun get to see often. Unfortunately, Janelle got fever on Friday day. We were trying to nurse her back and her fever managed to subside on Sunday morning but I decided not to bring her to KimBak wedding lunch but we still manage to make it to the concert at 5pm. Quek Ling Kiong - was the conductor for the concert. He was quite funny. This children’s concert features evergreen melodies such as Do-Re-Mi and Over the Rainbow. The conductor will teach the children about the seven notes in the major scale just like the seven colours of the rainbow. The concert will also teach them Major and Minor keys, the pentatonic scale and hand signs. I never rbr the musical hand signs, this was really a good recap. The kids love the performance and music, it was quite different from the...

Spelling & 听写

Before we set off for our Msia trip, Law brot back some worksheets from the Childcare that was meant for Janelle. I didnt go thru all, I thot they were just works that she missed at school and the teacher wanted her to complete it back home. Later did i realised there were a few sheets of papers indicating the list of words for Spelling and 听写 for the next 2 months. Luckily one of the parents prompted me else I will not take note of that. How blur I was! The parent that I talked to was rather stress and paranoid. She told me there was a revision on 25 May for English and 26 May on Chinese. The mother told me she has started doing revision with her daughter. WOW, that was fast right. Kinda of scare me a bit so I went thru the notes and told Janelle about the coming event. Asked and queried her a few things that she has learned in school and she could deal with it quite well. Simple grammer like I am, You Are, She/He is, They/We are. When to use "This" and "That". She...
