We were in IMM after failing to get into West gate. It was around 8pm when we reached IMM and after a dipped at SAFRA. I suggesting Fish & Co but got to know that it had pulled out from IMM. Deciding between the Seoul Garden or Aijisan. Julian doesnt want Korean food but Janelle had craving fro Kimchi soup. It was always a tug war when the kids were very stubborn on their meal and the only people who suffer is always the parents. Even if we did not want to eat the food, we still have to go along with it. Fortunately, both the restaurant were side by side, so Law suggested that one of us will followed each of them to satisfy their craving.  Janelle has being asking for Kimchi soup for sometime and I think it was fair to just bring her to eat what she wants. Janelle ordered a Kimchi toufu soup and I ordered a Ginseng soup but was told it was sold out despite that the restaurant prepared more that day. Even saw an old couple sitting beside us left the restaurant after knowing...

We love doting each other with food. He always knows what I was thinking when we went Vivo. He knows what I love to have at Marche.  Pork knackle too dry.  Love this but never my main dish. Day 2 dining together We are back here for the side dishes. His Seafood soup and my Ginseng chicken. Unfortnately the ginseng chicken not nice. A very big bowl of seafood soup. Day 4.  He said he tasted 4 finger chicken the same afternoon and wanted to bring me there to try. I chose a Japanese restaurant. Sushi is fresh and good. Cheap too. Order set meal that come with udon and rice. The udon noodles is great!  Her silver fish rice, his salmon rice. Queuing up for the chicken for mother in law, kids and me. Girl asked why call 4fingers? My explaination - because you only need to use both of your thumb and 1st finger to hold the chicken. I enjoyed the soy garlic and the crispines...

I think my 小姨好厉害 after I passed her her new mobile phone, MiNote created Facebook account and introduce her WhatsApp App. She can communicate with us and chit chat with my mum almost everyday. The phone came at the right time, just enough time for her son to teach her about wifi and before he left for study at States. Now my 小姨 will Voice Whatsapp us often else daily to chit chat with us. She doesnt seem too far away anymore. We dun need to catch up every 6 months. When I have good lobang or news, she will get it instantly. Infact she learn faster than my mum and because of that my mum has started to pick up more now. Since both of us like to cook, we will exchange pointers about cooking. I just told her not to use the 白油 she can use lard which believe is much healthier now.

Rendering Lard

Image
When I was young, I could not stand the taste of the skin and fat on the meat, be it chicken or pork. I will take out the fat or throw it away. My mum always says very sayang and she will take over and eat it. I practise such eating habit until............................ I also cannot remember when was the 1st time trying lardons and I felt in love with it instantly. I wasted half of my life, no knowing how good lardons taste. We were always told by the healthy practitioner not to eat food cook with lard and I was so proud of myself back then.  Why this topics about lards? Recently, I saw a topics saying actually lards is over-rated of its bad and under-rate of it good. So I started searching on lards and read about westerners are also a lover of lards too and they using it far more widely in cooking than us. There are recipes about making biscuit, savoury pies pastry using lards. Oh mine, how am I going to catch up with it.  I am so excited now. I wanted to render...

My plants

Image
I love this plant of mine. Still have no idea what if the name of it but I like the big leaves cos it is a good fengshui plant. The best part of it, the plant doesnt give me dead leaf often so minimum maintenance for me. After my Malaysia trip over the weekends, I realised there was something new coming out from the plant.  Not very visible here.  See this pointed stalk? It doesnt look like one of the new leaf out from the plant. Could it be flower? I didnt expect this plant will bloom. I am still waiting to see more. Waiting.....  Then my poor lady finger plant went bare top now, leaving me 1 ladyfinger fruit. Janelle asked me what to do with it. I suggested to dry the ladyfinger and start growing new lady finger plant again.

Bye Sitiawan. Till we meet again.

When I left home, I was thinking when I will be coming home. When it is time to go home, I was thinking when I will come back again. Mum said this noodles stall selling good Kalou mee.  Indeed, the Kaolou mee is very nice. The noodles was well-done, the black sauce is flavourful. This is Janelle and Law favourite and they asked me to eat more on their behalf.  Waiting for my coach opposite the old shop houses. I cant remember what the shop house used to be. This is the street I missed.  It looks empty in the morning.  All waiting n waiting... already 1 hr late. The coach was finally here but broke down in the mid journey. Another story to tell later.  Xiao Yi homemade red bean bao. Very nice looking right. Yummy too.

Exploring new places in Sitiawan

Image
There is always "What can we do in Sitiawan? or Where can we go in Sitiawan?" This round, we found a new places to visit call Marina Island. It look like a link to another small island and transforming it into a jetty. Hmm how could we have missed it during this June? I requested my uncle to drove us to take a look. There are families at the jetty, bringing kids for a relaxing stroll after dinner. There are stalls selling t-shirt and we bought some bubble play stuffs to play bubble at the jetty. It was too dark to take any pictures.  It will be a beautiful sight in the day. There are hotels around.  This is the Jetty complex in the night. It is sad to find that although it is new, it was not well maintained.  One of the morning, I took a ride with uncle to buy breakfast. He drove me to a malay village to get nasi lemak. Unfortunate, it was a Friday and the stall did not operate due to praying day but we came down and uncl...
