My 1st Nasi Lemak - Happy 56th National Day
On Singapore 56th birthday, I took up the challenge to make nasi lemak for the family that day. In order not to rush myself and end up failing, I prepared the lemak chilli a day before. Even marinated the chicken wing a day before.
On the actual day, I only need to go down to Mustafa and look for a good basmati rice for my nasi. We went down not knowing which brand to chose so we asked the native there and they recommended me 2 brands and we decided one and got the small pack home.
My mum came over, so I asked her to help me test my chilli and it needed a bit more sugar. I didnt rush myself too much because i only need to cook some vegetable dishes, fried the chicken wings and cook the rice.
Going in 4 cups of basmati rice and I think my rice cooker is too small and since 1st time i didnt really check the rice. When I opened the rice cooker, I noticed the rice on top doesnt look well cooked. I decided to scoop up all the rice to check. The bottom rice is well cooked so I took up the top rice and let it continue to steam under those that are well done. In the end, nobody notice the not so well cooked grains.
I followed the youtube recipe to marinate the chicken wing but i didnt like the outcome of it. It was too much of the india spices.
I am not 100% happy with the chicken wings but I love the chilli I made because it was not overly spicy and the older kids are taking it well.
