Are you my genetic father?
I just finished watching a show at the Discovery Home and Health. It was on human stories. This time the show was talking about how power DNA test was.
4 stories in the show that bring tears in my eyes and I couldnt help but trying to dry my eyes thru-out the show.
1st story - a young couple who has 2 sons. The hubby suspected that one or may be both of his son may not be his as his wife had a past relationship before that. Both of them decided to get the test for his son as he couldnt leave in doubts not knowing if they are his. Result was positive, both are his and the relief and joy that brot to the family and the couple could now living together with clear sky.
2nd story - a mid age woman has suspected that she may not be her father's daughter when she overheard her mother mentioning a one-night stand to her aunt over the phone. She always felt that she was different from her sibling. She had fairer skin, different color eyes and totally different character. She brot out to her old father of 70s if he could agree to do an DNA test just for her so she would clear her doubt. Meantime, she ensured the old man that she will still be her daughter no matter what the result will be. The final result, she was 99.9999% to be the daughter, and the old man broke down in tear. Man gets more emotional than mother sometime.
3rd story - a mother had decided to tell her two son 19 & 17 that both of them was conceived thru IVF as she couldnt have a child after 5 yo of trying it as her hubby sperm count was very low and she suspected that the hospital may be using donor sperm instead of his hubby sperm during the IVF procedures. In the later years the couple did manage to concieve two gers naturally. The mother just wanted the boys to know the truth. It was really a shocking news to them at 1st but still they agree to go thru the DNA test. Both boys believed they are their father son as they really look like him. The result was that they were not their father' sons. The moment of shocking news and the explaination that the mother gave have managed to regain the boys confidence of their status in the house will never change.
4th story - a 30s man decided to check the DNA between him and his father to see if he was his son. Unfortunately not and it was not how much the man going thru under this story. This time, the story showed how much the old father feared that his son will chute him aside and ignored him but a firm assurance that nobody can take over his role who brot him up these many years.
I was very touched after watching the show. We are human after all, there are always connection between human even thot we are not genetically connected.
